LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE: ROCK IT OR REPLACE IT?

Wahoo! It was another LIVE studio audience day at Studio 5, and we had a blast. These happen a couple times a year, and they are so much fun and full of energy. Our audience is truly so kind-hearted and uplifting towards us and one another, and I always feel so grateful for that. (a pretty rare occurrence online these days!) I asked a few volunteers to share a makeup product they’ve been using for a while, and then I let them know if they should continue to ‘rock it’ or if it was time to ‘replace it’. Here’s how it all went down…

ROCK IT OR REPLACE IT? Your old stand-by makeup edition

Christie

  • Christie struggles to make her concealer look good under her eyes. Shes tried lots of colors and brands but still doesn’t like the way it looks.

  • I say Replace it

  • Why? Concealer is often the default for dealing with darkness under the eyes, but often when we age concealer accentuates fine lines and texture under the eyes.

  • Replace it with an under eye brightening cream that reflects light and hydrates instead.

  • Replace it with Milani Brightening Under Eye Tint

Camille

  • Camille has an old Neutral Shadow Palette that shes had for years but doesn’t know if it is still on trend?

  • I say Rock it, but there’s a catch…

  • Why? It has a great variety of colors and textures- however I am going to suggest an update on how to use it. Simplify your application... just choose a single color! A simple wash over the lid is much more in fashion than multiple colors used in the past. And pair it with a Brown Mascara for a softer and younger look

  • Rock it with Maybelline Sky High Mascara in True Brown

Jenni

  • Jenni wondered about wearing Lip Liner still and specifically using it all over the lip?

  • I say Replace it

  • Why? Lip liner consistency is far more long wearing than the lipsticks or glosses you often pair with it, meaning over time the line is the only thing left on the lip. This noticeable border can look outdated. Instead opt for a satin finish liquid lipstick that mimics the texture of a liner but is much more comfortable and wears evenly throughout the day.

  • Replace it with Colour Pop Ultra Blotted Lip

Monica

  • Monica noticed that her blush tone wasn’t working for her as well on her skin after some health challenges, is there a better option?

  • I say Replace it

  • Why? Monica has a warmer hue to her skin, so her cool toned pink isn't as harmonious as it could be. Pick a blush that falls on the same side of the color spectrum as your actual skin tone. Warm + Warm, or Cool + Cool

  • Replace is with Fenty Beauty Cream Blush in 'Peach Face'
