AN EASY DAY-TIME SMOKEY EYE ANYONE CAN MASTER
/Creating a pattern to follow when it comes to your makeup is the easiest way to speed up your routine... knowing what to reach for, and in what order is half the battle. So today I wanted to share with you my '1-2-3 Smokey' tutorial that takes the guess work out and will give you an easy pattern to follow. For a Daytime look, skip the black smudgy liner you may have in your mind when I say the words ‘smokey eye’, and instead opt for a softer version of brown, charcoal, navy or my favorite- burgundy. It’s still considered smokey if the look is very blended, and has a ‘halo’ of the darkest color around the eye at the lash line. Ok ready to learn? Let’s go! [video here]
EASY DAY TIME SMOKEY EYE
1-2-3 Colors: Pick one shade from each category, and feel free to mix mattes and shimmers… I’m using the Minimalist Palette from Profusion
Light
Medium
Dark
1-2-3 Brushes:
Big Blender - to diffuse the lightest color
Medium Shader - to place the medium tone precisely on the lid
Petite Precision - to control the darkest pigment along the lash line
1-2-3 Steps:
Lightest color buffed above the crease
Medium tone on the lid and through the crease
Dark on the lash line (upper and lower, but only 1/3-1/2 of the way in on the lower lash line, leaving the inner corner bright and open)
Now, work your way back up to the top in reverse order to blend. Small —> Medium —> Large
OPTIONAL BONUS add a highlight under the brow and inner corner
Have fun and get creative with the color combos you choose! xo
