Like all things old that become new again, there's an uptick of one 90's beauty staple making its return to the mainstage: White Eyeliner! And yes, it's the young 20-somethings who are discovering it for the first time that are making this trend go viral... but for those of us who wore it the first time around (who are very much past our 20's!) the technique is still grounded in a solid principle- that bright colors reflect more light!

And as someone who has been trying to get women to stop wearing black eyeliner for the last 10 years, I am all about BRIGHTENING the eye area! Here is how to update white eyeliner into 2023

A few ground rules to wearing white eyeliner:

even though it's a 'liner' we don't want to create lines... blend, blend, blend
avoid matte white... it looks chalky and can enhance texture
for a similar effect you can also try pale peach, pink, or even lilac
apply to areas you want to brighten or lift, can be worn on it's own or with your normal eye shadow colors
apply your liner AFTER your shadows, but BEFORE your mascara to avoid getting white on your lashes or brows
