WHAT'S UP WITH 'UTAH-CURLS'?

Thanks to the popularity of two reality shows based in Utah, the term ‘Utah Curls’ has gained its’ own headlines in the news. Articles both locally, nationally, and even aboard have popped up- noting that the women of Utah have their own signature take on curls.

So what makes Utah Curls different? It’s actually the lack of curl at both the root and the ends of the hair, with the only real curl through the mid lengths of the hair. This style is especially prevalent in longer hair and extension wearers, but it can be adapted to all lengths as well.

IS HARD WATER CAUSING YOUR HAIR HAVOC?

If you are struggling with hair that feels brittle, dry, frizzy... or even like it never fully gets clean- you could be battling effects of the minerals in your water. 'Hard water' as they call it is full of Magnesium and Calcium- but we also find traces of iron, zinc, aluminum and even copper in some water.

These minerals cause havoc on hair; Brittle hair that snaps, clogged hair follicles cause hair loss, fading of your hair color, yellowing of your hair... the list goes on, and none of it is good.

So besides adding a water softener system into your home, there are a few other things you can do to combat these issues at the source.

BABY DOLL CHEEKS AT ANY AGE

Springs biggest makeup trend is one I am calling 'Baby Doll Makeup'... because its all about rosy cheeks and glossy lips. This look has major glow on the skin, but pairs it with a super simple eye. It is the next evolution of that no-makeup-makeup trend we've seen in the last couple of years. Although the name implies youth, this look is so wearable for a more mature face as well. Hydration, glow and a simple eye are exactly my recommendations for women over 40, so it’s really a match made in heaven.

Wahoo! It was another LIVE studio audience day at Studio 5, and we had a blast. These happen a couple times a year, and they are so much fun and full of energy. DOUBLE BLENDING YOUR MAKEUP FOR BETTER RESULTS

Double blending isn’t an extra, it’s a must if you’re over 40. I’ve mentioned many times that our texture is much smoother when we are younger, similar to a slab of marble, but as we age the texture of our skin begins to be more similar to a slab of concrete! It has larger pores, uneven areas, fine lines etc., and spreading product over the surface becomes more of a challenge.

After reading this article about the benefits of wearing a sleep mask every night, I was skeptical to say the least.
